Description

The Agricultural Value Chain Development Support Program (PADFA) is one of IFAD's main programs in Côte d'Ivoire for developing inclusive agricultural value chains. Its approach goes beyond simply increasing agricultural production by also investing in post-harvest links: storage, packaging, processing, marketing, and market access. The program focuses primarily on the rice, vegetable, and mango value chains, strengthening producer organizations, improving economic infrastructure, and stimulating private investment. Its intervention strategy aims to transform family farms into more market-integrated agricultural enterprises capable of generating greater rural income and employment.

Objectives

🌾 Develop agricultural value chains:
Sustainably improve the availability and quality of food products from the rice, mango, and vegetable sectors.

🏭 Increase the resilience of rural agriculture:
Promote climate-smart agricultural practices to ensure the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of production systems.

🤝 Mobilize the private sector:
Professionalize producer organizations, strengthen multi-stakeholder platforms, and develop public-private-producer (4P) partnerships.

👨‍🌾 Reduce rural poverty:
Increase the incomes of rural households, particularly young people and women, through inclusive business models and better market integration.
